There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is banned. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime destination, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is real of most border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling den, features 150 slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga casino is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that contains numerous conveniences in addition to the gambling den, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
